Lakota tomato

I ordered some lakota tomato seeds.
I think I have to start them this year to grow next year tree size.
they take 150 days.

150 from seed. You can get 85 from the transplant, I understand. They should be about like a normal 85-day tomato, with regard to maturity, granted, it's still fairly late.

150 days from now is November 19th.

If you want fruit on August 1st, transplant on May 8th, and start your seeds on March 3rd.

I credit Alexa (Amazon's virtual assistant) for doing the math. I can just ask, 'What's 85 days before August 1st?' and such.

I want it tree size like epcot so I will growth it indoors til next year.
Have to figure out some kind of overhead netting.

Where did you buy the seeds? Does it just grow slow? I always like to experiment and would be able to start when it was too hot.

I was thinking of using one of those 4 shelf mini greenhouse with some added height and just a top chicken wire to let them sprawl from the top.Plant in the ground with the other shelves removed.
You remove the lower branches and grow it like one of those cat in the hat trees.

I started the seeds 4 days ago and they are starting to pop.
The packet said 77% germination rate.
I only started 5 seeds and 4 came up.

One plant is still alive in the house and had blossoms, but they never opened and just dried up before I could use the electric toothbrush on them.

The plant was in a container in the windowsill with garden peach plants that I was forced to start because the seeds sprouted inside the tomato.
I lost track of which were which.I assumed the last plant to survive was garden peach.The plant is now outside with tomatoes just starting to turn.
If it's the lakota,the plant is approaching it's 1 year birthday.Looks like a regular plant and not tree-like.

The tomatoes have been green since february.
When they said 150 days they weren't kidding.

I'm so sorry. So many things to go wrong when you garden. It left half of it for you so you can have a small taste and save some seeds.

Tomato roots are like umbilical cord,they are only good for x months.
Should be fun to see how many months I can keep it alive.
It looks pretty anemic now but has suckers I can clone.

Next weekend the plant will be 1 year old.
I will have to light a candle.
Looks like a regular indeterminate tomato plant.
I have it in a container outside.

pronounced dead,so the plant lasted 13 months.

I'm sorry to hear the plant died.

I understand you wanted a "tree" of a tomato plant. Is there a particular reason you chose this variety? I'm not familiar with it.

If you want a larger tomato plant, try the variety Charles Wilber grew. I think it was Better Boy.

To get a plant that huge it would have to be in the ground.
In my climate I have to use a container to bring it in before winter hits.
I thought if I grew it indoors for 6 months I would time it for growing outside the other 6 months.
They were correct about 180 days,it took 6 months to get a tomato on it.
I think the tomato "tree" that was at the epcot center in florida only lasted 13 months also.

I had better boy here years ago,about 4 feet tall.
