We got pounded by rain all day.
It rained so hard it washed the green off the Bullfrogs.

I think the acid rain over the past 40 years has washed the bullfrogs away, here.

A small man-made pond in a sand quarry near me had bullfrogs with a lot of yellow on their legs. Other ponds had green bullfrogs, with the males having some yellow mostly on the throat.

Here is the sky.

I'm glad you mentioned the moon was out.

@Tormato there’s a little pond in the woods in Millis, MA, right off Monroe st., more of a mud hole, that has the most numerous and biggest bull frogs you’ll ever see. My kids would bring them home as temporary pets and then take them back. These frogs had plenty of yellow on their legs along with splotches, true bullfrogs and as big as they come. This was about 15 years ago.

The possible frost they forecasted for this weekend won't happen and won't in the foreseeable future either. The next two days will be in the 50's and returning to low 70's going forward. Only slight chances of rain so I'm going to have to water the fall stuff in the garden

That sounds just like the mud hole, here. Numerous and giant bullfrogs, with just the legs being almost a foot long. There are many vernal pools in this area, where the spring peepers (still) put on a huge chorus.

Winter is here. We really only have two seasons and they vary by 1. The presence or absence of rain and 2. 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Last week or so the rain came with a typhoon and then has stayed, raining almost every night. Usually doesn't rain during the day here. Fog rolls in around 3pm, rain starts around 1am and stops about 5am. Sun burns off the clouds by 9am. Repeat cycle for November - February, with spotty occurrences in October and March. In the garden it doesn't mean much except you don't have to water and the lack of light will stop growth.

I can hear the rain against the window tonight. Forecast is for up to 5 cm of snow for inland and high elevations - that's me. They say it should be gone by noon tomorrow, without any effort on my part. ;) We shall see. :| Nights have turned regularly frosty this week. The sun's angle is so low, there are a lot of long shadows when the sun shines here in the winter woods.

It will feel rather raw out there today. There's a low pushing in from the coast bringing the possibility of showers, adding to the sustained 10-15 mph winds all day. Highs in the low 50's will feel colder, for sure.A great day for staying inside and watching football all day. :D

Well I got 10 cm of snow, and mid-afternoon there are still heaps of ankle deep white stuff among the puddles.
This will be gone in a day or two, and I don't hope to see snow on ground for any longer than that until after Christmas. Hope. :)

Finally had our first real freeze last night, down to 28 degrees (F) or so. There was even a solid chunk of ice where water had collected on a plastic chair out in the garden. Always a sad day when the tomato and pepper plants finally expire, but it's two weeks later than normal this year, so I can't complain, and we sure are having a beautiful autumn. Back to mid-60s and sunshine beginning Monday.

Spectacular, 71 high today. Went deer hunting this morning, it was cold, 40s, owls hooting everywhere and a woodcock tried landing on me and my son, but no deer. 74 high tomorrow with abundant sunshine, just like today. Might go fishing tomorrow. Fishing is more my jive.

This morning was the coldest here yet - 33° at the coldest thermometer, and it is the slowest to warm up, despite the sun being out in full. It was still 40°, when I looked at 10:20, but today is supposed to get warmer than the last several days, starting the gradual increase to a possible 70° next Friday! As always, crazy weather.

Shoutout to @Growing Coastal and @Dee and any others in the province of BC. Hoping you are all safe and warm and still dry in your homes. The disaster caused by the "atmospheric river" has been top story in the news for several days now! :(

81 F, 27 C, sunny, breezy. Cool down coming tomorrow evening. Nothing drastic, back to the high 60s-low-70s for the highs. Squirrels around here are looking awfully fat and extra furry this fall, though, wonder if they know something about what’s in store for winter?

Thank you for the good wishes, @Bower . I live in northern BC, quite a distance from where the terrible floods and landslides are happening. We have been following the news closely. The damage shown in pictures and videos is just staggering. It's hard to fathom that Vancouver is cut off from the mainland and that there are large communities under water. My heart goes out to people who have lost their homes and belongings. I admit I started crying during the report of the thousands of farm animals that have either drowned, died of hypothermia, or who are still stuck in the floodwaters, likely terrified and cold.

It will take many months - maybe years, in some cases - to rebuild the roads, railway tracks, bridges, farms, etc. I wonder when people will be allowed to return to their communities. The silver lining, I guess, is that there has been so much goodwill and support, people helping friends, friends-of-friends, even complete strangers...taking in pets, giving people places to stay, helping them rescue livestock, providing a warm meal. When the chips are down, the best in people often comes out, and that is reassuring.

snow, and rain showers, repeat, repeat.
the snow we got a few days ago is mostly gone. more is coming this week.
snow showers are hard to predict, could be a dusting, could be several inches.
you don't know till its on the ground.

The animals, yes. I wish we didn't depend on them so much as food.

Some flooding in the usual areas here. People will build in flood areas and gov'ts allow them to do so. For the most part we are OK in this area. Some yards got an inch or two of water as did my backyard.

I heard that Meritt BC, which was evacuated due to sewage plant overflows & no clean water, has a new course in the river that now runs down the main street with no way to divert it.
Nothing like that where I live, on the north side of the Malahat. Those that live south toward Victoria are in worse shape for things like gas and other supplies that are running out. There are many who cannot afford to live in Victoria though their jobs are there and commute over the Malahat every day. Alternating single lane lately. There is a small ferry, too, that put on many extra sailings whle things were bad o the road.
Supply lines were cut off on the mainland from mudslides, washouts and collapses of bridges . Cars over the edge on one hi-way, one death so far as I know.
Grocery store shelves are bare in places, much like the covid onset & yup, T.P. all gone.
All but one chicken was gone from one store a friend went to today. Somewhere else it was beef.
In the Fraser Valley thousands and thousands of birds have been lost as well as cattle. I'd think that the farmers who take care of these animals will suffer PTSD after this event.
This area was once a giant lake that was drained and Sumas 'Prairie' was created in about 1915. It is farm country and produces much food for the province.
It could have been worse if any one of the pumps that are keeping what they can dry in Abbotsford had failed.
The army is there in numbers and assessing what the best thing to do is. More rain next week.
Supply lines are being re-routed or repaired. Truckers are confident things will get back to normal soon.
Down the hi-way from where I live there is a new sinkhole, not something that is all that common around here though there was once some coal mining around there.
This is not a nice time to move house which is what I am in the midst of. Otherwise I would have gone out with camera in hand to see the local river's activity. Got out for a walk today and saw where water had drifted maple leaves around in unexpected places and some logs have gone from the river bank. Water level is still high but not far off normal for the season, today.
I live stocked up from habit of country living and emergency preparedness so I'll have no issues with food and only bought two extra bananas for my smoothies the other day. With some summer veggies in the freezer all will be well :D
