Tomatoes are being run into the Crispr, but not the one in the fridge.

Tomatoes don't like heat, growing best between 18C (64F) and 25C (77F).
My tomatoes grow best at precisely 89 degrees F. :) (I'm guessing those are greenhouse temperatures, and they have warmer nights by comparison.)

I hope they cross these with regular tomatoes a few times before they present them to the public, considering what I've read about with the possibility of new unintentional protein formations and such when using CRISPR (which might cause allergies). If they crossed them and selected for these new traits, however, unintentional changes would be more likely to be selected out.

I'd be happy if they created a sterile version of Yellow Pear. ;)

They need something they can feed to the wealthy space tourists... a 30 day micro tomato that's 'out of this world'. (ISS version of yellow pear, perfect!).
