What do you do with overripe tomatoes...?
We went away to visit my parents for a while and after coming back there is a lot of tomatoes that have ripened way past the point of using them.
Can I simply work them back into the soil or what do you do with them..? There is a fair amount of "end season" blight etc also doing the rounds so all the foliage etc I'll discard in a different way/throw away.

I either dig a hole/trench in the soil and bury them or put 'em in the composting bins.
The fruit flies never complained about the latter method....

I don't compost diseased foliage but I do compost my old tomatoes. Actually my chickens love them too and they eat a lot of the seeds right out of the compost pile.

I compost everything from plants to fruit. Huge amount of biomass in tomato plants.
If there are disease concerns, apply that compost to a different crop and vice versa for your maters.
