I think the 3.25" is staying a bit too wet too long for my taste, but I might be able to fix that next year with an amended starting mix.

What a gorgeous crop Juicy ! I hope the people you give your plants to really appreciate your hard work.
When I bought seeds envisioning the result, I didn't anticipate how labor intensive it would be to balance the trays taking them in and out the door for sunshine- no disasters yet other than Little Lucky was not so lucky - lost a few seedlings that over baked.
I did notice a tiny bit of mold forming a few times that scared me; the weather has been so damp my seeds are staying wet after bottom watering. I started soaking them very seldom about two minutes instead of the suggested 20. Yesterday I drizzled water from a medicine dropper in just a few dry spots on top. Also I've been rotating the trays in front of my breezy bedroom window. It will be worth it all .

Welcome to the Junction from the sunny South! That's quite a gaggle of plants you have there and looking good. There's no cure for the bug so it's best you hang out here with all the rest of us infected folks. We understand.

I'm fairly new at this and I had a lot of problems last year. I started in 50mm Jiffy pellets which are pretty much the same size as the 2.5" pot, so I decided to up-pot to something a bit bigger. The problem is the 3.25 is an oddball size, seems like the standards are 2.5 and 3.5, at least those are the ones you can get tray inserts for. But to your question with the good growth I got this year, I think yes maybe the plants would have been awful close together with the 2.5". I planted out all of mine yesterday, the tomatoes, anyway.
