Giant Tomato Competition - Epstein's Potato Leaf
I am growing Epstein's Potato Leaf for the biggest tomato contest. I was late getting the plant in the ground due to a cool, wet extended Spring here in Central N.C. Here are my first photos. Due to late planting the plant got a little leggy but now seems to have overcome that.

Looks very healthy! My Epstein's is the first of the giants to throw a big fat megabloom. I'm growing mine as a grafted single-stem plant, so it will be interesting to see how yours and mine compare as the season goes on. Good luck getting the jumbo!

Thanks. I will be posting another picture soon. Just received an inch of rain. Can't wait until morning to see if the garden has jumped.

Re: Giant Tomato Competition - Epstein's Potato Leaf
I wanted to give an update for those following the Giant Tomato Competition. This is as of Sunday afternoon June 26th. It has been hot and dry here, but we did catch a couple of days with lower temperatures and lower humidity.
I am now seeing a couple of potential candidates if they can hang on. Rain expected tomorrow (thank goodness) and cooler temperatures. Going to go out after supper and do a light fertilizing with some composted Rabbit Pooh that a friend gave me.

Re: Giant Tomato Competition - Epstein's Potato Leaf
Well I have been a little late in posting my largest tomato from Epsteins's Potato Leaf. We had a 2 week heat wave and dry spell and all I was doing was watering my garden and flowers. We finally had some nice rain and a nice cool down.
I picked it on July 26th. I couldn't find my digital scale, but I already knew this was not a contender as my guess it was about 1 lb.
We had some friends over on July 30th. so I decided to cut it. Everyone really liked it. It was a very good tasting tomato.
I enjoyed being in the competition and appreciate the seed and the opportunity to compete.

@friedgreen51 that is a beautiful tomato. Thank you so much for trialing these seeds. I really have enjoyed watching to see how everyone's tomatoes here have grown.
Is this a variety that you would grow again for it's taste?

Absolutely. It was a big hit with everyone who tasted it. I saved seed and will grow again next year.
