Well don't you have 2.2 lbs of cherries off of those little micros yet?jmsieglaff wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 10:25 pm @MissS did you mean to @ someone else? I unfortunately don't have any 2.2 lb tomatoes. I am getting a couple microdwarf cherries however and they are delicious!

I'm so sorry but I did mean that @Mark_Thompson is currently holding 1st place with his 2.2 lb Domingo.
Great job fellas for the tall and small of it!

Re: The Junction's 2022 Largest Tomato Contest
I was too late to the party for the seed exchange. However, I figured everyone likes looking at pics so thought I’d share. But this is the best I’ve gotten so far this summer. Sadly, not a winner, but ought to make a fine sandwich. I probably should have picked it and weighed it at first blush. Not a megabloom, just removed other tomatoes from truss.

I didn't get the seeds from you Miss S, however, I did grow Domingo this year. Actually it was mostly ignored and had several fused blossoms, one of which produced this monster. 2.5 lbs of good flavor. i actually was quite pleasantly surprised with how meaty and yummy Domingo was!

Re: The Junction's 2022 Largest Tomato Contest
It's time for us to tally up the results and announce our winner!
@TessSR you requested seeds of all of them. Did you grow any of these out and if so what were your results? We haven't heard from you.
There are a couple of others that have not reported back, please let us know if you have grown any and your results.

@Yak54; other than sheer HUMONGOSITY, how where King Kong's other vitals (yield, taste, etc.)?

Re: The Junction's 2022 Largest Tomato Contest
Yak54 was very kind and sent me (ahem) a few seeds. I will be offering them for the 2023 Largest Tomato Contest to whoever would like to grow them next season. Thanks again @Yak54!
I did get a hold of biscuitridge over at Tomatoville who has grown a 16.85lb tomato this year. He will be sending me a few seeds of his Domingo (not the record one). So that will be exciting to see how many seeds I get and if I have enough to share or if I need to grow them out and save some to offer here the next year.

@Cornelius_Gotchberg please wait until I make the offer to send me your SASE or it will get lost. I will be having a few other offerings in the mix this year too. I will make the offer once they are all here. I'm glad that you would like to play.

Re: The Junction's 2022 Largest Tomato Contest
I got the King Kong seeds from Carolyn's Last Seed offer via Farmer Shawn in Feb. 2020 but didn't grow them until this year 2022. I think I picked about 20 tomatoes from the one plant growing in a 15 gal grow bag and 7 of them weighed in at over 2 lbs. as far as taste goes I have to qualify that I'm jaded and a tomato snob so I didn't think the taste was anything special compared to my favorites. I have to say though that in all my years growing tomatoes I've never had so many very very large tomatoes from one plant especially since this plant was not given any special treatment and grew along with 10 other varieties in similar grow bags. So from that perspective it is somewhat special.Cornelius_Gotchberg wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 5:39 pm @Yak54; other than sheer HUMONGOSITY, how where King Kong's other vitals (yield, taste, etc.)?
