Does anyone have Hoja Santa / Piper auritum seeds? I will probably just buy a live plant next spring but I would like to take s a shot at growing from seed.

I'm attempting to germinate the last few I had, but don't seem to be having any luck - they must not have a long shelf life. I will have to get a new batch of seeds, next spring. I would never find a plant around here.

The seed is like dust and it's tropical so if it lasts 18 months you're lucky. If you can find a supplier I'd recommend planting it as soon as it arrives. I started mine in an egg incubator. Little green spots appeared on the seed starter mix after about a week. They stayed little green spots for about a month then disappeared. I eventually got a plant.
I don't use it to cook with, but I do enjoy the scent.
