My top extra big tomato contenders this season are Big Zac and Domingo. My garden gets a little more direct light than last year and I’m giving each plant a little more space. I’ll see if that translates to bigger fruit.

Domingo was my biggest last year. It’s a crazy plant, throws suckers out from the middle of leaves, big thick stems and fused flowers

My Domingo seeds came in this year’s MMMM swap. I gave away a couple of Domingo plants to friends and kept one for myself. I gave away my Portuguese Monster plants from the swap also. Domingo got seeded about two weeks behind the others I’m growing, but has almost caught up.

My Big Zac seed finally arrived and all my "Giants" are in seed starting trays now.

I'm taking a shotgun approach and just growing everything that someone has called a "giant" tomato. I have 18 varieties that range from a three pound heart to some big uglies. I have a few like Giant Syrian that aren't typically over a pound from what I can tell. I don't know if tomatoes are smaller in Syria, but I'm going to pretend it grows 12 pounders too and see what happens. My best bets are from MissS, some Domingo crosses, Domingo from the MMMM, the Big Zac and Shackelford's Giant Pink. I'm also going to grow my big Kiwi again and give it some TLC.

It's only fair that @AKgardener...um...redistributes some of her Fast-Approaching 20 Hour Per Day Sunshine.

Or perhaps an asterisk......

Good luck to everyone...Giant Tomato Contest Contestants...Start Yer Engines!

I was going to just put a list of what didn't germinate yet because it's shorter. Domingo(MMMM no year) and Giant Syrian (unknown year or source)

But that's not interesting so....
King Kong, Westerlund I-26, Donskoi(MMMM), Donskoi (MissS)
Brutus, Magnus, Kiwi, Mega Marv, Portuguese Monster,
Domingo X Libanaise des Montagnes, Big Zac, Ispolin,
Ukrainian Giant, Rozovyi Gigant, Bull's Forehead, TexWine,
and Shackelford Giant Pink are all showing true leaves now.

The Domingo and the Giant Syrian are up now. Hopefully they'll catch up before it's time to plant them out.

@AKgardener K is potassium.

N = nitrogen, P = phosphorous, K = potassium. Fertilizer numbers on the packages always go in this order. The numbers are referred to as the NPK ratio.
