Feeling kinda melancholy this morning, reviewing old posts at T'ville. Found one of my earliest in 2010 where I requested some seeds. Had forgotten where I got my Brandywine Cowlicks from, and someone asked the other day. I got them from Darlene aka Greyghost, s.e. PA, back in 2010. Been growing ever since. Was the birth of my love for Heirlooms. I really do owe it all to Darlene. Last post I see from her is 2017. And don't see Greyghost as a member here. Afraid to ask, but does anyone know of her?? She holds a special place in my heart, tho I did not know her well.
I think I got Barlow Jap from her also, tho I don't remember ever growing it. I got Barlow J in MMMM, and will finally grow it this year.

I do know of Greyghost (Darlene) but I don't know what has become of her. She was a very knowledgeable and generous lady.

While her last post at Doc and Katie's was in 2016 her last log in was in 2021. She's in her late seventies now.

This is the kind of thing that makes me wish I appreciated things more at the time as fleeting. I feel like the garden boards of the late 90s and through the first part of the 2000s are almost gone. The generosity is almost entirely gone and is replaced with sales. The sense of community is nearly gone. And unfortunately, many gardeners we knew have moved on to other stages of life or death. I was 18 in 1999 when I joined GardenWeb.I met a lot of great people, some of whom stayed in touch. I have a very close friend I have emailed nearly daily since 1999 from there. But, I was an anomaly in a series of boards where most.people were 20+ years older than myself, and I can sadly list so many that are gone.

Stump of the World is my favorite pink. Remy introduced me to SOTW.

Thanx for all the posts. Yes, we take too much for granted, and as we get older realize we never told others how much we really appreciated them. So heres a shout out to all that read it. I appreciate all of you who have touched my life in a positive way. Thankyou. Good to know about Darlene. Hope she is well.

If you know her last name or her address perhaps you can do a Google search? I've found several friends from the past that way, & reconnected.
Zone 10, Southern California
Will eat anything once before I judge.
Anything meaning any foods of course.
