Australian Seed Sources
I am going to put a list of Vegetables seed suppliers here that are from Australia to start with, for my own benefit as much as anyone else's. Folks from elsewhere might want to check the out out of curiosity and other members from Oz might find it useful, particularly if new to gardening. I may add suppliers of native seed later. A lot of these operations supply flowers as well as vegetables, one or two have a reputation for changing the odd name for the sake of a sale, hopefully that has stopped now. I have not purchased seed from all, only some.

Hi Whwoz,
Thanks for putting this together. There is few that I had not known about.
I have been getting my seeds from 'the seed collection'.
Do you have a preferred supplier?

Re: Australian Seed Sources
At this stage, The Lost Seed is probably my first pick of sites to check out, not only for their good range of seed but also for garlic and Heritage fruit tree scions at the appropriate times of the year. Very well packaged when sent through the post.
Eden Seeds also good, often see them in shops locally as well as online. Have had the odd incorrect variety from them.
Boondie Seeds have been good when i have dealt with them, small packs, but when you are paying $1 or $1.50 as against $3 plus, the numbers are fair and generally more than what you need for a season
New Gippsland has been slow the times we have ordered from them - 3 to 4 weeks plus.
Diggers - most try them, they have a "name" but not the reputation in some areas to match.
Rahiseedbank and Pumpkin Paradise both have good selections and have been good to deal with. Pumpkin Paradise have around 175 varieties, most of which they are probably the only supplier for in Oz.
Oh and Welcome to the Junction Thornbury.

Re: Australian Seed Sources
While I can't order tomato seeds now from Rangeview, thanks to the new restrictions, I have in the past. Found them to be true to type and a generous amount of seeds too. Very helpful when I ran into problems ordering online!

Whwoz, Just to let you know that if you want to you can always edit your original post and just add vendors to your original list. Of course you need not do that but just letting you know that it is an option.

Added Farmhouseseeds.com.au today, have not dealt with them but they appear to have some seeds in useful size lots without being excessively large. Their selection of corn looks to allow good staggered planting.

The Chilli Pepper House is another chilli specialist I have just stumbled across. Shares a lot of common varieties with the other sites listed above plus a few different ones, some of which will go on next seasons wish list.

Transition farm has quite a few varieties that are not available elsewhere and great descriptions. They also send to WA which is rare. https://www.transitionfarm.com/shop?category=Tomato

Western Australia, so it's triple hard to find any decent or new varieties here. I've had a blast at Seeds of Plenty this year but still want more. )

That says it all to me Ffoxyy. I can understand your frustrations with seed supply. Can't recall if some of the suppliers list above are set up to send to WA or not.
For those whom are not aware Australia has basically three quarantine zones, most of Australia is one, Western Australia is a separate zone and Tasmania is third. WA and Tas have tighter restrictions than everything east of the border.

Re: Australian Seed Sources
You may want to check out the Eden Seeds website, they list a number of retailers in WA. They can also send some seeds direct.
The Seed Collection, Happy Valley Seeds and also the Diggers club are able to seed some direct although you would have a quarantine fee to pay most likely. Have not checked all of above suppliers yet and I believe a couple have closed or been taken over. Will get the list updated and include send to WA/Tas in it somehow sometime soon.

Re: Australian Seed Sources
Yes, I know and have used all of those. Happy Valley doesn't send tomato seeds here anymore (it might change when/if the brown rugose situation gets better), Seeds of Plenty is the best shop for tomato varieties at the moment, hope they stay that way and keep bringing new varieties in. We're very much restricted. ((Whwoz wrote: ↑Thu Apr 10, 2025 6:40 amYou may want to check out the Eden Seeds website, they list a number of retailers in WA. They can also send some seeds direct.
