Emergency tomato delivery!
I had a friend text me yesterday that they were pulling their tomato plants, and did I have any "extras?"
This is their first year with a plot in a community garden and they're excited and learning. Unfortunately two of their tomatoes I think really needed some afternoon shade (no shade at all in their plot) and they couldn't find shade cloth in time. So they bit the dust. Possibly some other parasite issue, too, I'm not sure. But they had some severe leaf roll that looked like a watering or heat issue.
Anyway, I had 6-7 volunteers this year, of which I saved the heartiest 4. Two of them I stuck in a grow bag, so I just brought them the bag with two plants in it yesterday. Special emergency tomato delivery!

One can in fact have tomato emergencies. I have had emergency pet bird deliveries, emergency sewing elastic & sewing machine deliveries as well.

Re: Emergency tomato delivery!
I had more plants than I was able to plant and didn't get them all into able hands in time, so I have still have extras as well. I just planted two more in the garden a few days ago. We will see if how they do. They got planted almost exactly a month after all the rest. One Box Car Willie and one GGWT. I am not sure if it is worth planting the others in pots at this late date or not. I might try one or two. Then if we have a warm fall and late frost or disease in the main garden I will have a couple of plants going on the patio. Or I might be lazy and end up tossing them out, lol.

Re: Emergency tomato delivery!
I planted in clumps and still have plants in trays.
Boxcar I just planted a few days ago.
I just started seeds I got this week for next year.
So don't feel bad.
Still have the precious ones in the house under lights.
I don't want to expose them to bugs and will use as cloning materiel.
