SueCT reporting in!
YAY, so glad to see this site. I hope everyone from TV comes. I am a little surprised Mischka banned the linking to any other sites. If he is taking TV down, why? Maybe there are security issues that I don't know about unrelated to this site. I still hope he preserves the information on that site somehow, even if we can't post there any more. I hope to see a lot of old friends joining us here. THANK YOU Nan PA for letting me know about this site!

Disabling private messages was unnecessary and borderline malicious. Like he wanted to stop people from regroupling somewhere else.

Hmmm, do all responses need to be approved here? My previous response to your post is not showing up. Anyway, I had said I was not sure if the disabling of PMs was due to issues that started and may have continued in PMs after he made the closing announcement. I would not be surprised, since one person involved has since been banned. But I just realized that not only are we unable to send PMs there, I can't access any of my old messages, either. I am glad most of interactions with Carolyn were either on posts or by our private email accounts, so at least I still have her emails. Since he said he is also dealing with attempts to hack the site, I am not sure which actions he has taken have to do with that. I do know bad things can be done if you click on a link, so his banning links might have to do with security issues and not anything to do with this site, for example.

It wasn't me trying to hack tomatoville, I asked him twice for the files to preserve the history and he didn't respond. We'll just move on.
I don't know him but from his actions it wouldn't surprise me if he enabled the site again to bring people back there.
One way to let people find this site is to mention tomatoville.com often, Goggle search will pick up the mentions and list this site on the front page.

Re: SueCT reporting in!
I listed it on my news feed on facebook. Got several from that to come here. BTW- I have a Russian speaking friend on facebook who said she couldn't register here. She writes in Russian and uses translate. I told her to try in English. Hope it works, she's a lovely person and an accomplished tomato grower.Rajun Gardener wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 12:28 pm It wasn't me trying to hack tomatoville, I asked him twice for the files to preserve the history and he didn't respond. Re: SueCT reporting in!
I added Goggle translator and all of the language codes but it only has Russian, that's probably because I added it first in the list. I'll keep looking for a better one but it works.

No, Rajun, I never meant to imply that you had anything to do with that. I just don't know what kind of attacks he is dealing with. If he is considering keeping it going, I think that would be fine. He could keep all the files there, and we could still access them. He could leave it frozen in time so to speak. We could still come here regardless of what he decides to do. I just don't want to see all that information lost. Of course that has been his baby for a long time and it is totally up to him what to do with it. It might take some time for him to figure out just what he wants to do, too. I am glad we have some place to reconnect regardless of his decision. Will there be any sort of PM feature here in the future, do you know? Thanks for starting this, it makes me feel better in this uncertain time.

Sue, I didn't take it that way from you or Mishka when he posed it on tomatoville. I hope he let's it stay open or at least archive it so we can reference it. Maybe he's going through a bad time and not realizing the situation.

Welcome Sue
The way I understood it someone either tried to scrape the site (copy all of the information and databases that were publicly available) or they tried to make it available offline in their browser (more likely). All he could see was that someone was hitting the site hard with data requests.
