Going to be gone for a bit...

Tomorrow I will be having open heart surgery to repair or replace my mitral valve which is severly damaged and rapidly getting worse. I am considered high risk for this surgery because of my interstitial lung disease and it is also considered a high risk proceedure. My Pulmonologist says I might not be able to come off the ventilator after surgery and might need to stay on it for a couple of days. The surgeon has said if all goes perfectly I should be in the hospital for 4-6 days, but it could be 2 weeks or more, depending on things go. I might also need to be on oxygen 24 hours a day for a while when I get home.

I am going into this with a very positive attitude, and I am sure I will be fine. As long as they have the jumper cables ready before they disconnect my heart, I think we will be good. But all good thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated. I will see y'all on the other side of this.

Heart surgery has come a long long way and are very routine procedures. I am sure you are in good hands.

Wishing you all the best and for a quick recovery! Once you get back home you will probably feel 10 years younger in no time!

Wishing you a swift and complete recovery. My mom had something similar so long ago we forget she even had it done. 🌼

Prayers that everything goes well for you and that you have a speedy recovery. Prayers that you will have the quality of life that you deserve. It will be a game changer. Scary yes but the results will be so worth it. I'm there in thoughts, right beside you, so you can hold onto my hand if you want to.

Best wishes @Sue_CT , having seen what my mother in law was like going into heart valve replacement and how she has come out of it is like chalk and cheese. A decent surgeon and you will be good
