Everything you's ever wanted to know...and then some: https://www.ezcater.com/lunchrush/offic ... oEhivD_BwE

Anyone else surprised to see the Reuben ranked last, and the inimitable BLT in the middle of the pack?

Whoever wrote this article is clearly out of touch with reality..at least as far as Iowa and Nebraska. Loose meat or sloppy joes in Iowa may have been correct in the 40s or 50s and a Rueben in Nebraska is about as difficult to find on a menu as the proverbial hens teeth. A BLT would actually right up toward the top in both states. I think a double cheeseburger or a pork tenderloin would be #1.

I'm suspecting that they went and looked at the state sandwich list.
That wouldn't reflect what the real numbers would be as to sandwiches made or sold.
Especially with smoked brisket in Texas being around 30 dollars a pound.
Depending on where I go I normally get the same thing.
Hot meatball.
Pastrami.
Reuben.
Fried shrimp or oyster Po Boy.
Muffuletta.

In Prudhoe Bay at the BOC they put out Pork chop sandwiches with the darn bone still in them.
I almost broke my teeth.
I immediately went to the kitchen and complained.
The head Chef was flabbergasted and took them all back.
She had no idea someone did this.
It seems one of the cooks was from someplace that a bone in pork chop sandwich was a thing.

I interpreted that first list a bit differently. Rueben isn’t at the bottom of the list of sandwiches, it rounds out the top 10. I think any in the top 10 are all pretty popular. I am surprised pastrami isn’t on there. Any good deli probably sells a lot of those. Also? Lumping “deli meat” all in as one? Roast beef? Italian sub? Ham and cheese? Lumping them all together as one is why I think it is so high on the list.

The list consists of ten (10) entries, the Reuben is #10, ergo, it's at the bottom of the list.

Agreed, I'll take the BLT and the Reuben before any of them there others! Matterafact, I will partake of the former tomorrow...for Monday Morning BLT Brunch; stay tuned.

The Fluffernutter, that’s hilarious! I had completely forgotten about the Fluffernutter sandwich. Marshmallow fluff was completely foreign to me until I met someone for Massachusetts and, yes, they made and ate Fluffernutter sandwiches all of the time. They actually imported marshmallow fluff into Texas that’s how important marshmallow fluff was to them.

I thought Massachusetts always had great mom and pop sandwich shops, not talking about the chain stores, but at the mom and pop sub place I’d get an Italian sub or something like that and NEVER a fluffernutter.

Smoked Brisket is an or probably the iconic Texas sandwich, in spite of the sort of outrageous price of barbecue these days. I tend to get the chopped smoked beef brisket since it is cheaper and just as delicious.

The Muffuletta is a great sandwich when done right. I might put a fried oyster po’boy ahead of a muffuletta as the iconic Louisiana sandwich. Either way, it’s hard to lose, both are great.

No doubt the Green Chile Cheeseburger is the iconic sandwich of New Mexico. I love them and they only taste right in New Mexico.

There were several on the list I’d never heard of before.

I'll take a room temperature Spam sandwich with mayo and tomato over a pulled pork or BBQ beef brisket sandwich any day of the week.
Call me weird.
But it's 5 dollars a pound.
I eat an HEB chopped ham deli meat sandwich with mayo every day for work.
Crakers and water for morning snack.
You'd think I was in prison.
