Weird flashing

On this computer, on this site, today, I'm getting a very brief flashing (less than 1/2 a second) of a white background with a bit of blue text. It then returns to normal. Anyone else getting this?

Yes, same thing.
Together, trees make an ecosystem that tempers the extremes of heat & cold, stores lots of water, & makes a lot of humidity. In this environment, trees can live to be very old. To get to this point, the community must remain intact no matter what.

Not here. I am running Windows 10 on a desktop PC and using either Chrome or Edge. No problems yet.

I believe that we had some work being done. When we work on the site sometimes things happen... :D

We do need revenue to support this site. We are experimenting with a small amount of advertising, so no worries.

We are looking to see if this is the reason for the flashing that you see or not. It appears that the flashing is only an issue with the Firefox browser.

Well, now when I go to sign in, it does the normal log-in, then flashes over to an ad (?) wanting me to "chat" with a network technician by clicking on a button, almost like there is a problem with signing in and I ave to do the chat thing. I had to refresh it and click to sign in really fast to avoid that.

I can understand ads, but a lure to get some one to do what thinking they cannot sign in? Maybe not good along with the couple days worth of flashes that hurt my eyes.

I don't mind ads at the bottom. Ads can be a necessary evil and save money on forum costs but the ones popping up before I can even see the forum are majorly annoying.

I figured that it was a work in progress and interestingly the ads I am seeing are all gardening related, pruners, plant clips, fertilizers, etc.

That ad that comes p when I log in wants one to click on their button that says just "login" on it, like it is the button to log one onto this site. I can understand having ads, a forum is not a cheap bill, but that is....deceptive at best and where it would take you or if it collecting log ins, who knows?

Ads are designed to make you click but that's a little deceptive. It is an ad and not spam or a hacker so don't worry if you do click it. For a quick fix check the box to keep you logged on.

I'm getting this too, and it takes a lot of space and covers up the menu that I want to use. Very irritating. Even if it is a benign website, it keeps coming up every time I switch categories, not just the first time I come on. I never log out, so it certainly looks like a scam, even if it isn't.

I turned the ads off but it will take a while for them to stop. I'm working on getting sleeker ads and not as many as Goggle wants to push.

Okay, the weird flashy flashy thing is gone ( shades of Men In Black!!), thank you very much, and the ads don't bother me except for the deceptive one re "login". Not cheap nor easy to run a forum.

Is there any way to keep the ads along the bottom of the screen? I find that the least disruptive.
