The Houston area just busted up a group of people running illegal game rooms.
There's not one good thing that comes out of these shady places.
The way they work is you win a prize like a stuffed animal or some such thing and then sell it back for money.
This way it's legal.
These things are cropping up all over the place.
They opened one up on highway 71 going to Bastrop were an adult book store used to be.
Seems like this area always has some sort of shady stuff going on.

$500,000 bribe to an undercover officer was pretty substantial...they must have really been raking in the cash!

There are at a minimum a dozen game rooms on 288B between Lj.and Angleton. Tons around West Columbia. Anywhere that’s sort of low rent around here has a game room or two. Cars always there. .

No idea what’s going on inside. I kid my wife at times, “let’s go to one of these game rooms”. I’m slightly curious, but not enough to go inside.

My wife has never once gambled money on anything. Never set foot in a Casino. I have, but regret the experience.

people get greedy, they should get busted.
the closest we have to a game room here is k.c. bonkers located
in hancock, mi. they have games they sell, and others that you can
play at a table while sipping a coffee, latte etc. and have a snack.
they have a play area in back for the kiddos. its a fun place to be,
all legal, and above board. they aren't raking in millions of dollars,
but they are making a living, and don't have to look over their shoulder.

Massachusetts had Keno, which was available to play in many various restaurants and venues, I never partaked. Scratch tickets were ginormous there also, Keno being way more of a way of life there than here. Scratch tickets barely register here.

I don’t know a soul that has been in a game room here. I don’t know who likes those places. The exteriors are super bleak.

There was an infamous power couple here that loved getting the VIP treatment in Vegas. Had millions earned in a legitimate concern, but ended up paupers thanks to an addiction to gambling. Pretty sad.

Keno is still around, mostly in bars and restaurants from what I hear. I don't go to either, so I really don't know. It used to be in many other places when it was new, but I don't see it any more.

Scratch ticket buying is still likely the highest per capita of all US states. I think that virtually every gas station and mom & pop convenience store having lottery scratch tickets is why I've never seen a game room, here. I might buy one $2 Mega Millions or Powerball ticket a year, waiting until the prize is at least $500 million. If the payout doesn't get that high, I pass for that year.

Casinos are relatively new, sports gambling very new. I visited the local one, walked around to observe the blue hairs spending the excess of their monthly SS check, went over to the tiny sports betting area, seeing several shady looking guys apparently trying to overhear what customers were betting on. There were maybe a dozen of them, in groups of two or three, no one talking, just watching people walking into that area. Kind of creepy.

I walked the entire casino, saw what I wanted to see, and walked out in about 10 minutes, not spending a cent. The only thing that I missed was finding the lowest priced slot machine. I hear it is a "nickel" to play.

My original plan was to visit the casino on a snowy day, track that snow inside, spend one nickel and walk out, costing the casino more in the cleanup than they would profit off of me.

I had a short plane swap in Las Vegas early one morning coming home to Texas.
They had slot machines at the gate waiting for the suckers to show up before they got on the plane to go home.
As the morning wore on the place got louder louder.
One was a wheel of fortune game that kept yelling wheel of fortune.
It was a horrible miserable experience.
I couldn't wait to get on my plane and get out of there.
I had been awake all night flying in from Anchorage.
They literally claw at your soul as you leave Las Vegas

Years ago I would get talked into playing poker or shoot pool and I never lost and left with a pile of money.
Several hundred dollars one time.
I wasn't good they were drunk.
One time I got chased out of the bar with a nice looking blonde because they thought we were hustlers and she was the distraction.
We left with the tires squealing.
Those guys were really ticked off.
